The UK Regulations transposing the EU Lifts Directive — covering the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of new lifts. Schedule 18 sets out the quality assurance routes installers and modernisers must follow.

Key requirements
- Conformity with the essential health and safety requirements in Schedule 1.
- Certified quality system under one of Schedules 9–14 (most modernisers operate to Schedule 18: full quality assurance).
- UKCA marking and Declaration of Conformity.
- Technical documentation retained for 10 years.
